In our first attempt, Lessard won the architecture for Hampton Road, the second of three U.S. Navy pilot barrack PPV programs. We designed mixed-use residential developments on three installations in Newport News and Norfolk, Virginia, creating a series of urban villages with amenities and retail components. Our urban village concept includes mid- and low-rise apartment buildings which meet or exceed market rate standards and creates a living community with a clear identity and urban sense of place. Green space, community clubhouses, additional parking, retail spaces and pedestrian pathways found at each installation elevates mere “housing” into a livable and self-sufficient community.
